A paradigm shift has me believing that in order to maximize performance, a runner must have a healthy balance of speed and endurance. Traditional aerobic base training is a method that will initiate positive change, but cross country runners should implement innovative training methods to improve running economy which is based on structural, physiological, environmental and mechanical factors. Running success is directly linked to training and addressing all the complex factors will lead to positive adaptations. High performance running is a refined skill that is acquired and developed with precise training and that is why it is important to train with purpose, precision and resolve.
