Gap 1-5:56 seconds (not too bad) Gap 1-7:67 seconds (pretty good)
We ran against some exceptional programs. All three teams we faced will compete at a high level regionally and on the state level. I won’t compare us to them, but I will compare who we are today to who we were last year. It is important to look at our growth (at this time) and measure our progress from last year (and beyond for you older guys). A year ago we were unfit and not ready to train – let alone race. I feel like we have a better foundation from which to build on. I believe the work that was put in since last November has better prepared many of you for this season. We seem to be in better shape and ready to handle a heavier and more demanding training load. So, we will increase our mileage in the next few weeks. Our gaps are too large. We will tighten up the pack by practicing together and learning to run with each other. I have no doubt you will all continue to improve because you will get stronger and you’ll race smarter. Learn from this race and build upon the good experiences. Recognize the weaknesses, but don’t dwell on them. Focus on the positives and embrace them. We move forward.
